Case Study: How I Made $877.08 Online As A Newbie And How You Can Too

I am no genius and the truth is, the method I am about to reveal to you might help you a lot and this might be the only article you ever have to read about ACTUALLY making money online. 

Forget all the bells and whistles out there and focus on implementing all I am going to be revealing to you in this article.

My Story

It all started during the lockdown and the fear of losing my fulltime job crept in. I had a baby coming and I had nothing saved to get things for my baby.

My boss and I got involved in a kind of argument, that increased my fear of losing my job and made me consider options especially making money online.

I’ve made some money in the past (about $400) but that was over 5 years ago. I created a product that I launched on Clickbank, but I later sold the website for a measly $76 (not really sure why I made that mistake).

I lost a lot of money afterward without any more success in launching a product and I gave up the idea of making money online till April this year 2020 when the lockdown became a financial threat.

So what did I do?

I went back to the drawing board to grease up my rusted mind on the business of making money online. And in a couple of weeks I made $503.54 and after another couple of months, I made an additional $373.54 making it a total of over $877.08.

As you can see from my earnings report I earned them in bits. My first earning being $14.03. LOL, excited about that one as it was my very first.

Anyway, I was able to get the things I needed for my baby’s arrival, paid some bills, reinvested in my business and the rest is history.

In this article, I will reveal to you some of the things I did and also what I have learned in my experience about what works and what doesn’t.

How To Make Money Online As A Newbie?

So how do you actually make money online as a newbie?

The answer: Affiliate Marketing.

Don’t beat about the bush and simply focus on affiliate marketing and you could earn your first income online tomorrow.

Affiliate marketing simply entails driving traffic to a product and making a commission off it. In this article I am going to focus on digital products as that is the easier way to bank in on this.

This might or might not apply to you if you are looking to promote products on Amazon. This is basically focused on digital products like info products ebooks, videos, etc OR web apps.

So how do you go about this?

Pick A Niche

The first thing you want to do is pick a niche you are interested in among the BIG 3 niches Health, Wealth & Relationships.

• Under the Health Niche we have mainly information products centered around how to lose weight, dieting and other health conditions.
• Under the Wealth niche we have products that teach about how to make money online etc
• And the relationship niche is all about love, dating etc.

Just pick one niche and you should be good to go. What I will advice against though would be to get into a niche because you see there are lots of money to be made in it.

Simply work with what you are interested in and more importantly what you are EXPERIENCED in.

For instance, I can talk about making money online now because I have some experience in it. But I initially started off in the relationship niche because my ex and I broke up at the time and I tried to win her back, it worked and I wrote an info about it (true story and No I did not end up getting married to her).

Pick An Affiliate Program

So with that out of the way, your next step would be to sign up for an affiliate program.

Simply head over to Clickbank if you selected any niche at all. Or JVZoo and Warrior plus if you selected the wealth or internet marketing niche. Let’s focus on Clickbank so I don’t bore the hell outta ya.

Head over to Clickbank and sign up (you know the drill). Once you are in, head over to the marketplace and pick any category and product that has a gravity of at least 25, you can do that on the left-hand panel of the marketplace.

The big green numbers you see are the average earnings you will make from any sale from this product. Now hit the promote link and get your affiliate link.

The affiliate link is what you need to promote to make money. It will look something like this >>

But you don’t go around dropping your link and asking people to buy using your link, that is what is considered SPAM. There are ways to go about it to ensure you make money the right way.

Driving Traffic

All you need now is TRAFFIC which is usually a pain in the neck for most people. But I am going to reveal 2 ways. 

The SEO method which is slow but retainanble over a long period of time
and the Paid traffic method which is fast and profitable but needs constant funding.

SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization which simply entails ranking your website on search engines like BING and Google whenever anyone searches for a keyword.

Popular opinion has it that the SEO is free, but that’s just horse shit, because it actually requires some level of investment and A LOT OF TIME. But it’s not so bad as that is what I have done to make money online.

So how do you go about this?

First off you need to create a website which should most likely be a blog, just like I have done on this site where you are presently reading this article.

Creating a website requires a domain name and a hosting plan.

Get a domain name on sites like name.com, namesilo.com, ionos.com and more.

Just head over and pick a name in my case I simply picked a simple 2-word domain name called internetdosh.com because it is all about making dosh (money) on the internet.

In your case your blog might be about losing weight and you could register a domain called losingweightfast.com.

Just pick a domain name that sort of reflects what your website will be about and go with it.

Next you need to get a hosting account, which is what is required to have your domain name come online as a full website.

I highly recommend you use Bluehost for this purpose as they are fast and smooth and only cost about $3 a month plus you get a free domain name with it, so you do not need to invest an extra buck on acquiring a domain name.

Next you need to install wordpress and install a theme which is basically the design of your site. I would highly recommend Astra.

Next you need to install these plugins.

Rank Math: To guide the On-Page SEO of your articles
Pretty Links: To cloak your affiliate link so it goes from looking like this https://d53db8hr47rd8pm7ijxhplqa3y.hop.clickbank.n TO something like this yourdomain.com/weightloss
Elementor: Awesome drag and drop plugin for designing the look and feel of your site.
Updraft Plus: For backing up your site in case something goes wrong.
Smush: With this plugin you can reduce the file size of your images so your site speed helps boost your ranking.

Now I do not want to go into much detail as to how to create a website, this simple 17min Youtube video will guide you from start to finish.

So let’s skip to what needs to be done to make this money using the SEO method.

Create Relevant Content

Now you need to create a detailed blog post about the product you are trying to promote.

Let’s say you are promoting a weight loss product. All you need to do is research some weight loss articles and rewrite it as yours with your affiliate links sprinkled in it.

Another way, would be to visit Answer The Public to learn what questions people are asking about weight loss and make that into an article.

The fastest way would be to get a PLR article or ebook, read through it and rewrite it into your own unique article. You can get PLRs for as low as $2 by visiting onebuckebook.com.

While writing make sure, you do the following:

• You target at least 1500 words broken down in mini paragraphs of about 2-4 lines of text.
• You are guided by Rank Math plugin, it will tell you what is missing in your On-Page SEO.
• Get relevant videos and images to support your article so it does not look boring.

Next you want to publish your article and submit it to be indexed by Google or Bing.

The SEO Method

Now the real SEO method.

• Get some social signals
• Write some blog comments
• Get forum links and
• Create web 2.0 backlinks to your blog.

How do you go about all this?

Head over to Fiverr and search through the services by rating and you should be fine. I reveal the right tools I use to get this done for my site in my full case study ebook.

Now after you have done this, give your article some room to grow. You might start seeing some traffic soon and maybe sales but give it about 3-6 months to start seeing real change.

In my case, I wrote a review on products launching soon instead and so I was able to rank faster when the product was launched. I reveal all I did in my ebook.

This SEO method might be long and tiring and you most likley do not have such patience to wait to start making money online.

Let’s head over to the faster way.

Paid Traffic Method

This involves driving traffic using paid ads. Which means you would be paying Bing or Google to have your ad placed where it can be seen by potential customers.

When you see gurus claim to have made thousands of dollars every day, they used Paid ads and it works perfectly. As a matter of fact, if I had known THIS WAS IT, I wouldn’t waste my time with SEO.

So how NOT to go about this…SOLO ADS.

Trust me, you are most likely gonna lose your money if you go about buying Solo ads. Yes I said it, do not buy solo ads except you are getting it from Igor Solo Ads or Traffic For Me.

Those are the 2 I have heard of over and over. But truth is I have never tested them because they are a bit pricey and my experience with solo ads was terrible.

I spent over $250 from the money I made on solo ads alone, to build an unresponsive email list which barely open or click the links in my email. Maybe I did not do something right, but that is a lesson learned.

I would suggest you simply stay away from it till you have money to spare and test out what works and what doesn’t.

What I will highly recommend is to use paid traffic sources from ONLY Facebook, Google and BING.

That is all, I can tell you. Just don’t waste your time and money.

But the truth is you can still waste your time and money on the recommended traffic sources as well especially if you are a newbie and do not know what you are doing.

I have tested Facebook and I have lost some money there. Same with Google, the only one I did not quite lose was with BING and that was because I used it to grow my email list.
